CRAVE = Cultivating Radical Activism, Vitality, & Education

This spring and summer SHE really dug in to some radical grassroots organizing and activating as we began planting heARTful seeds within a beautiful, powerful, multicultural, intergenerational community of engaged and organizing youth leaders and adult allies in Seattle. Through creative community organizing and art projects we will cultivate and proliferate ways to inspire systemic and societal change, increasing awareness and access to healthy food choices and growing spaces.

From regular youth-lead meetings, workshops, trainings and creative FUNdrai$ing campaigns, we worked hard and raised money to support a youth-lead Seattle delegation to The Rooted In Community Conference in Philly, PA this year where CRAVE leaders learned viable and vital ways to promote food justice in neighborhoods through the Southend. Now that we’re back we’re busily planning Food Justice Awareness Week (10/16-10/24) as well as our regular monthly events from urban to rural farm tours, to wilderness and foraging skillbuilding, to commUNITY art jams and fundraisers in solidarity with food struggles from Seattle to Somalia. We are also organizing a Regional Food Justice Gathering for late February 2012 in solidarity with local and national youth lead food just movements we connected with in Philly this summer.
